Zachor -- Remember
The Yahrzeit Sub-Committee sends reminder notices and yahrzeit candles to our members in advance of a yahrzeit commenoration. Reminder notices include the Hebrew and English dates of the yahrzeit and the times of minyan services at shul on that day. If a member wishes to add a yahrzeit to the shul's database and begin to receive notices, please send the Hebrew date of the yahrzeit, relationship (mother, father, etc.), and the Hebrew and/or English name of the relative to yahrzeits@shaarei.org
Beyond the custom of lighting a yahrzeit candle and reciting Kaddish at minyan on the day of the yahrzeit, one should also recite "Kel Malei Rachamim" in shul at the shabbat minchah preceeding the yahrzeit. For more information regarding yahrzeit observances, please contact Rabbi Samuels.
